FIGURATIVE BRONZES AND COLOUR DRAWINGS

“My figurative sculptures follow some of the principles of classical sculpture even when the predominant subject – the human body - is abstracted.

This approach reflects the influence of my formative years and training through art colleges and academies.

My formal training was as an academic sculptor, painter and conservator and I graduated with a Masters Degree from the Academy of Fine Arts, Bratislava, Czechoslovakia (1972). I completed post graduate studies in Vienna with leading Austrian sculptor, Fritz Wotruba (1973).

I have been active as an artist and conservator for more than forty (40) years and came to Sydney, Australia in 1979 to expand my career.

My works have been exhibited in many solo and group exhibitions (including with the Sculptors Society, Sydney) in Vienna and Sydney and are included in private collections in Australia and overseas.

With my sculptures in bronze, I prefer modelled surfaces and volumes. I retain the kneading and cutting of clay and like to exhibit all the technical possibilities allowed by the material. The colour of the cast completes the visualised final effect.

I invite you to share some of my interests and interpretation of life through sculpture. I have included drawings as they are an essential part of my work.
